How To Cook Char Siu Pork Fillet
Char siu is an ancient Cantonese pork-roasting technique featuring long strips of meat marinated in a spicy-sweet sauce. It’s a common cold-case item in Asian supermarkets, but this version blows that clamshell-encased piggy right out of the water.
- In a bowl mix together the char siu sauce, scallions, Chinese five spice powder, sesame oil and honey until combined. Marinate the pork tenderloin in this sauce and refrigerate for around 2 hours.
- Place pork into a baking dish and cook for 35-45 minutes in the oven. Remove from the oven and heat a BBQ or grill. Sear the meat on each side for a 1-2 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade. Remove from the oven and heat a BBQ or grill.
